北溫帶終年受極地氣團(tuán)影響，雖然冬季表層水溫較低，但鹽度小，含氧量 多，水團(tuán)垂直交換強(qiáng)，水中營(yíng)養(yǎng)鹽類豐富，浮游生物很多，故使大量以浮游生物為餌料的魚(yú)類得到繁殖、 生長(zhǎng)，成為世界重要漁場(chǎng)的分布區(qū)域。北溫帶魚(yú)類的種數(shù)遠(yuǎn)比北極帶豐富，主要有太平洋鱈魚(yú)、鯡魚(yú)、大馬哈魚(yú)等，它在世界漁業(yè)經(jīng)濟(jì)中具有重要地位。哺乳動(dòng)物中，在太平洋部分有海狗、海驢、海獺、日本鯨和海豚；在大西洋水域有比斯開(kāi)鯨、白海海豚、海豹等。
（3）北熱帶。大體位于北緯10～30°。全年氣溫均較高，冬、夏季溫差不大（zui 熱月平均溫22～25℃，zui冷月15～20℃）。多熱帶氣旋。年降水量500～1000毫米。帶內(nèi)東西部海區(qū)氣溫 、降水差異明顯。全年受副熱帶高壓帶控制，廣大海域水體垂直交換微弱，深層水的營(yíng)養(yǎng)鹽類不易上涌 ，浮游生物和有經(jīng)濟(jì)價(jià)值的魚(yú)類都較少。但是，在受赤道洋流影響的海域，含有豐富營(yíng)養(yǎng)鹽類的深層水上涌，使浮游生物和魚(yú)類得以繁殖，形成有價(jià)值的魚(yú)類捕撈區(qū)。哺乳類動(dòng)物很少，主 要有抹香鯨。本帶北部繁殖有多種浮游動(dòng)物，南部有大量的珊瑚、海龜和鯊等。
（4）赤道帶。大體介于南北緯10°間。終年高溫多雨，年均溫25～28℃，年降水 量1500～2000米，赤道附近可達(dá)2000～3000毫米。處在赤道低壓區(qū)，全年氣溫高、風(fēng)力微弱、蒸發(fā)旺盛 ，加之有赤道洋流引起海水的垂直交換，使下層營(yíng)養(yǎng)鹽類上升，生物養(yǎng)料比較豐富，魚(yú)類較多，主要有 鯊、鱏等，飛魚(yú)為赤道帶典型魚(yú) 類。
（5）南熱帶。位于南緯10～30°。本帶由于高壓特別強(qiáng)盛，致使熱帶位置向北推 移，其它特征和成因均與北熱帶基本相同，亦屬少生物型。
（6）南溫帶。大體介于南緯30～60°。全年盛行西風(fēng)，其中南緯40～60°洋面上 ，因三大洋相互連
